Testimonials

When I went into labor, my doula was attending another clients birth. Annie was called for me as a back up doula and that’s when I met her for the first time. Although we had not previously met, I felt comfortable with Annie within minutes. As my labor progressed Annie helped me breathe through my contractions until that was no longer enough relief. She helped me with other pain management techniques, including continuous back massaging, changing positions and encouragement. Annie was extremely patient as I was very demanding. She stayed by my side for my whole labor, birth and quite a few hours postpartum and answered many questions and concerns for me. I am extremely thankful and glad that Annie was my doula and I feel as though I wouldn’t have made it through my birth without her. I definitely recommend her.

Annie received high praises from the labor and delivery nurses who were very impressed with her support during my 39 hour labor. We succeeded in delivering my son Lucas, who was 11 lbs, 3 oz, via natural childbirth with NO pain medication whatsoever. All but 11 hours of labor occurred at home and Annie stuck with my husband and I from the start of active labor. Having both my husband and Annie coaching me was essental to give birth to this BIG baby. For the hospital portion of labor my midwife gave me a lot of pitocin to augment my contractions in late first stage and throughout the three hours of pushing it took to deliver, and still no pain meds. This is all due to my doula and coach. I think, over the hundreds of contractions it took to birth my baby, I spent perhaps less than ten without someone coaching and comforting me. We simply couldn’t have had the birth of our choice without Annie.

Annie was a fabulous source of support for both me and my husband as I labored. My situation was a bit unique because Annie actually wasn’t my original doula. My original doula was at another birth when my water broke so she sent Annie- her back up- over to the hospital to meet us. Annie arrived promptly and immediately warmed the room and made me feel at ease. After only a few short hours I felt like I had known her for a long time. This was especially helpful once the labor kicked into high gear. Annie suggested numerous positions and helped me get through contractions with breathing and relaxation techniques. Our baby came early- at 34 weeks and one day- so my husband and I never had the opportunity to take any classes or do any practice runs. Annie understood this and patiently provided guidence and support. She knew when to step in and help and when to stand back and let us take care of ourselves. When it turned out that I needed a c-section due to fever and a possible infection, Annie held my hand and supported me through the epidural and assured me I did my best. She was such a pleasure to labor with and she took excellent care of all of us. I am so glad she was here.
